Nila has never fly fished before and of course she caught the largest rainbow of the day.  I am not kidding when I say this happens quite frequently____ why is th....

FISHING

Hopefully we have all had that once in a lifetime moment of pure pleasure when gravity meets rod and angler delivers the fish of ones dream.  For some it could be a South American Brown Trout, others a Hemingway sized Blue Marlin, but the pure joy of bringing in that memorable wild Rainbow is hard to beat.  The satisfaction of seeing an angler light up when experiencing this is a....

Summertime in Alaska and the living is HOT!  Mind you, I'm not complaining, but fishing in shorts and short sleeves?  I realize this is not considered hot in some areas of the U.S., if it reaches 80 here we are all panting, turning on fans, drinking iced tea in large quantities and swimming in the lake.  I am constantly reminding our guests to load up on the sunblock, as....

ALASKA WILDLIFE

The difference between opening week last year and this year is about a 30-degree difference in temperature.  This first week has been glorious, with blue skies and plenty of sunshine.  Our normal adventurous team of hearty, fun loving, anglers are back this year, with some new welcome additions.  A far cry from last years 34 degree water and not being able to wear enough....

2013 Trip To East Africa

We've just returned from a month of incredible safaris in East Africa.  We were excited to have Kathy and Steve Elliott and Mary and George Hall with us for almost the entire month of January.  We all met in Nairobi at the beginning of January where our good friend, Charlie Strachan, flew us in a TropicAir Caravan to the Maasai Mara and Richard....

October Blog

It's a wrap!  We are home in Anchorage and another season has flown by.  What on earth was that last bout of mother natures wrath all about?  Chris and a few other bold souls, were stuck at the lodge in very nasty weather.  First they had lots of snow, followed by temperatures dropping down to the low twenties, and if that wasn't enough, ....
