I'm back in the swing of things now, gone 10 days and it seems like I never left.  I was able to say hello and goodbye to old friends at the airport in Igiugig, and fly back to the lodge with the new weeks guests.  So much fun seeing the people that we have known so many years that they feel like family.

Dangling in a basket off the side of an Alaskan Coast Guard Search and Rescue MH-65 Dolphin helicopter is not everyone's idea of light evening entertainment.

However, as the night evolved and the helicopter was swapped out for a King Air medical evacuation and a final jaunt by ambulance to Prov....

Summertime in Alaska and the living is HOT!  Mind you, I'm not complaining, but fishing in shorts and short sleeves?  I realize this is not considered hot in some areas of the U.S., if it reaches 80 here we are all panting, turning on fans, drinking iced tea in large quantities and swimming in the lake.  I am constantly reminding our guests to load up on the sunblock, as....

The difference between opening week last year and this year is about a 30-degree difference in temperature.  This first week has been glorious, with blue skies and plenty of sunshine.  Our normal adventurous team of hearty, fun loving, anglers are back this year, with some new welcome additions.  A far cry from last years 34 degree water and not being able to wear enough....

If you haven't heard Dave Goodhart's name mentioned in the fly fishing world, or seen one of his TV shows on ESPN, you are probably living off the grid.  Dave was born in Kentucky and raised near Boston, but has lived in Montana for over 30 years.  He studied environmental studies and biology at Middlebury College and took a few graduate courses in stream ecology and fisheries at....
