Chris flew down to the lodge on ski-wheels yesterday and landed on our new strip.  The lake is wide open and the river below the lodge is loaded with hundreds of rainbows, feeding on fry.  The shallow water makes them easy to see from the air.

Big Ku Lodge is also loaded with hundreds of r....

The last week of our 2015 season ended with lot’s of white fluffy snow, hail the size of marbles, pouring rain, (which made beautiful rainbows when the sun came out,) and the not so wonderful turbulent winds, which didn’t leave until we felt thoroughly respectful of its power.  (Next years to do list; 1) Put up several windmills.)
They are saying it was the coldest and wettest Sep....

So many thanks to be given at the end of a great season, and I will have to start with our own incredible Royal Wolf staff.  We think we have the perfect team and without our great staff we would just be another lodge.&nb....

We have had our first frosts and the tundra is painted in different stages of yellow and reds.  My flowers bit the dust this morning when the sun brought the outdoor thermometer to the 25-degree mark.  We are having bluebird days and crystal clear nights, with the full moon making electricity seem superfluous.  These last few nights have provided us with a spac....

We have three teenagers here this week who have never fly-f....

Nila has never fly fished before and of course she caught the largest rainbow of the day.  I am not kidding when I say this happens quite frequently____ why is th....

Hopefully we have all had that once in a lifetime moment of pure pleasure when gravity meets rod and angler delivers the fish of ones dream.  For some it could be a South American Brown Trout, others a Hemingway sized Blue Marlin, but the pure joy of bringing in that memorable wild Rainbow is hard to beat.  The satisfaction of seeing an angler light up when experiencing this is a....

I've been told it is high time for an update, (thanks Alan.)  That's the problem with being busy and having fun, you are actually living in the thick of it and find a much smaller window for writing about it.

What can I say about June? Cold weather, cold water temperatures, more snow on the mountains than I can remember during our many years here.  Everything behind sch....
